🥑 Kitchen Skincare-Avocado Peels!

Do you like eating avocados? They are sooooooo delish and packed with beneficial nutrients for good skin and hair. The dark green part of the avocado near its skin has more helpful antioxidants than its yellow or pale green fleshy parts. It has the highest concentration of carotenoids and chlorophylls, which help fight free radical damage and cancer. Avocado peel also has more phenols and flavonoids, which have a number of health benefits, including preventing nerve degeneration.

One of my favorite ways to eat avocados is to make a big batch of guacamole with fresh chopped onions, 1-2 pressed garlic cloves, sea salt sprinkle and half a lemon squeezed in.

If you're not a guac fan, then try scooping an avocado into a breakfast smoothie.Avocados also give you a great energy boost when blended into a smoothie- they’re filling and are packed with good fats and fuel to help you through your day. It adds a super creamy, rich texture without an overwhelming avocado taste. Best with oats, frozen bananas, kale and a cup of frozen mangoes. Mmmmmm, the perfect way to start off your morning.

But what to do with the peels after you scoop out all of the green goodness? Here’s a way to Get even more of the benefits of avocados!

Scoop out all avocado fruit flesh closest to the peel. After scooping out your avocado, save the peels! They’re perfect for smoothing and exfoliating before your shower! Carefully invert the peel so that the inside peel is now facing outward. Hold the peel in your hand and simply massage the peel onto your face, arms, legs- any area of the body that is dry or rough. There is plenty of luscious avocado oil in the peel and remaining fruit still in the peel that will help revive tired skin, stimulating blood circulation giving you that gorgeous glow!

Begin your bath or shower as you normally would and rinse off any remaining avocado peel then toss the spent peels in your compost- your garden will love the nutrients as well. Total WIN-WIN!

Going out for the evening and want glowing skin? Here’s your homemade solve!
